Every mother knows how difficult it is for a child to wait in lines. And if you have to wait in the hospital, you can not only get bored, but also catch some kind of infection from other patients. It is especially difficult to arrange childcare for forcibly displaced persons and single parents, because they often do not have the opportunity to leave the child with a relative during a visit to the doctor and are forced to take it with them to a medical institution. Therefore, the authors of the initiative decided to open a children's recreation room in a local hospital.
The room provided by the institution was equipped with modern furniture, equipment, and educational toys, and its highlight was a sensory table, which children of different age groups love to use. In addition, a series of health trainings and workshops on mental health support were organized in the space.
The room works on a permanent basis, visitors can leave the child under the supervision of the staff during visits to doctors. Now children do not stand in queues with their parents, which reduces the level of stress and infection. Such modern, well-equipped spaces attract and encourage IDPs from the million-strong cities of eastern Ukraine, who are used to developed infrastructure and a wide range of services, to stay in small towns.
"We are lucky that we found ourselves in the Novoselytsk community, where we are taken care of," - such reviews are the best reward for our grantees. They plan to continue their work in the second round by arranging a space for physical and psychological rehabilitation.
