Project goal
Overcoming educational losses in classes using innovative methods and elements of psychological training for IDPs children

Name of the initiative: "Assistance to families with children from among IDPs living in Storozhynetsk and Chernivtsi TGs"

Bright chemical experiments, carried out with your own hands, nature studies, interesting physical phenomena and a little magic - all this caused curiosity and admiration in children's eyes, helped to deepen knowledge of natural sciences in a non-trivial and useful way.

"Thank you very much for your help in preparing the child for school! Special thanks for the interesting classes, the children will miss you!" - many similar words of gratitude were received by the authors of the project aimed at providing assistance in the field of education to families of IDPs with children.

Grant funds were directed to the purchase of vouchers worth UAH 2,000 for the purchase of school supplies. These funds became a significant help to parents in preparing schoolchildren for the new school year. But children need not only new briefcases and stationery. Many children have experienced traumatic events in the frontline regions and need high-quality psychological support. Online learning during constant airstrikes has resulted in significant educational losses. Therefore, the grantees focused their activities on the organization of anxiety-reducing classes using projective methods, as well as conducting STEM classes for schoolchildren. Sessions with a psychologist gave young Ukrainians a sense of security and allowed them to express their fears through creativity, and better understand their own emotions during therapeutic games.

Thanks to the implementation of the initiative, 60 families of IDPs received financial aid, 84 children attended a cycle of STEM lessons and psychological support classes. An inclusive space was created for seven children with special needs and they were fully integrated into the group.

The results of psychological testing indicated a decrease in the level of anxiety by an average of 38%. Extremely high demand for classes and feedback from parents encouraged the grantees to continue their activities in the next round of SCLR projects.
