Project goal
Creating a safe play environment for the development and communication of children of the Kelmenetsі community

Thanks to a microgrant from the SCLR community development program, a new playground was built in the central park of the village of Kelmentsi.

The playground in the park also contributes to the development of the village’s park infrastructure, increasing its attractiveness for local residents and IDPs.

During the implementation of the initiative, a playground was purchased and installed, benches were installed, the central alley of the playground park and the path to the school were illuminated, which makes it possible to be safely in the park in the evening, and the surrounding area was landscaped. Many community residents participated in the installation of the playground. Most of the work (installation of artificial turf, garbage cans, street lighting, surveillance cameras, etc.) was carried out by members of the initiative group, active residents of the village, employees of local educational institutions and the village council. Crushed stone products (screening) were provided free of charge by LLC “Voronovytskyi Shchebenevy Karyer”, local supporters helped with the transportation of guards and flower seedlings free of charge.

Children enjoy playing on the new playground both during school breaks and after school, getting to know each other and helping their parents make friends. This helps create a community among local families and IDP families, who often meet on the playground while walking in the park.

As noted by Olga Pergunova, an IDP from Luhansk Oblast, in the village of Kelmenetsi there are several locations with playgrounds, but the playground in the park has the best location - close to the center and school, with plenty of benches and greenery. The director of the Kelmenets Lyceum, Vitaliy Rybchinsky, noted that students actively spend time and communicate on the playground during school breaks and after school, which is good for their health and helps students from the entire school make friends.
