Project goal
Equip a room in a shelter for IDPs for psycho-emotional support and development of children
Name of the initiative: "Children's room in a dormitory for IDPs"
Even if you have no experience, you can get grant support and realize your aspirations" The main thing is sincere desire and perseverance. This is exactly what one of our grantees, head of the IDP initiative group Lilia Bragina, proves.
Having found herself far away from her native Novaya Kakhovka due to the war, Mrs. Lilia did not lose her optimism and zeal. She lives in one of the hostels in Chernivtsi and sees every day the difficulties faced by IDPs. In particular, the woman was very worried about the fact that the children in the shelter do not have space to play and communicate, because the living rooms are small and several people live in them at the same time, and there are not enough common spaces. Therefore, the children were forced to play in the corridors and even in the shower room.Ms. Lilia decided to give it a try. She turned to the management of the institution, received the necessary support and one of the free rooms of the dormitory. Grant funds made it possible to renovate it, equip it with the necessary furniture, toys and books. During the project, 16 classes were held with children, including those accompanied by a psychologist. Thanks to the implementation of the initiative, the children in the dormitory got their own space, which contributes to the establishment of social contacts, the development of tolerance, and the level of domestic conflicts has decreased. Interactions between adults who take turns maintaining the space as well as using it for communication have also improved.
Our heroine was not afraid of challenges, found like-minded people and resources, so now the children have a nice cozy space where they can talk to a psychologist, get creative and just relax. And even adults don't mind meeting for board games in the evening. Therefore, the created children's room became the real heart of the shelter and the center of communication of its residents.
