Name of the initiative: "Public laundry in Kelmentsy"
Forced migrants, veterans, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable population groups in Kelmenetsi use the public laundry for free thanks to the SCLR program. The demand for it is high, because many local families do not have water supply and a washing machine at home.
During the implementation of the project, the initiative group enlisted the support of the local authorities, receiving free use of premises in the building of the district hospital in a convenient location. They needed repair, reconstruction of the water supply network and electricity supply. The applicants coped with all this.
Also, for the implementation of the initiative, a considerable contribution was made by caring residents, who helped equip the premises with the necessary furniture, flooring and donated laundry products for a good cause.
- The implementation of the "Public Laundry" project significantly improved the life of the community's residents, - says the head of the initiative group, Nadiya Pauk. - After all, Kelmenechchyna has been experiencing a water shortage for the past few years. And this year's summer broke all temperature records. So the water level in the wells dropped to a critical level. Also, there were often problems with the central water supply, because even the well lacked water.
In Kelmentsy, as in the entire state, long-term power outages continue. And since the laundromat is located in the building of the KNP "Kelmenets Multidisciplinary Hospital" - a building of critical infrastructure, there are no significant interruptions with either water supply or electricity. Therefore, not only people of vulnerable categories, but also other residents of the community have the opportunity to use laundry services without restrictions. And everyone who visited the laundromat during this time sincerely thanked the initiative group, public organization and donors for such a project.
Taking into account that the public laundry has household washing machines for a larger weight of laundry, the services are also requested by the paying population. These people pay for laundry according to the established tariff. With the funds received, the authors of the project purchase laundry products and pay for utility services.
