Name of the initiative: Sadgora UNITED BY SPORT: strengthening cohesion between internally displaced persons and local residents
Thanks to the SCLR program, the first sand volleyball court appeared in the largest neighborhood of Chernivtsi - Sadhori. They arranged it on the abandoned river bank, next to two kindergartens and a school. Anyone can use the space for free.
Locals and visitors first rolled up their sleeves together during an environmental campaign to clean and beautify the square on the street. Nadrichnaya, 16 A. Dozens of seedlings of decorative bushes and trees were planted together. Participating in the toloka became an occasion to leave the comfort zone and go beyond the usual world limited by the home and the Internet, make new pleasant acquaintances, find like-minded people, and be filled with self-respect and pride for involvement in community affairs.
This project included a sand volleyball court with benches for spectators and bicycle parking for 10 bicycles; the mini-championship in football and the tournament "Spring Cup of Sadhora in volleyball" were held.
On June 19, 2024, the official grand opening of this sports space took place, as well as a beach volleyball competition for children and teenagers.
The field became a center of leisure for children and teenagers of the neighborhood. It never remains empty: the players themselves divided into teams and agreed on the time to use the field. Everyone practices for free, and gifts for competitions are often purchased by sponsors.
Inspired by the popularity of the sports space, the authors of the project won another micro-grant in the second round of the SCLR program of the regional organization AREAC and created a space for playing table tennis in the same square.
