Name of the initiative: "Arrangement of a basketball / streetball court with the installation of an artificial surface" (Kelmentsy)
Thanks to a micro-grant, a modern volleyball and streetball court appeared in the Kelmentsy district center, which brought together children and adults at the competition. The main goal of the initiative was to unite the local residents of the village and visitors from regions affected by hostilities.
A significant contribution to the construction of the site was made by the local government and business, caring people. As a result, everyone benefited: a modern field with an artificial surface next to the local stadium became a leisure center for the residents of the entire community.
A total of 205 people took part in the construction and opening of the site, a third of whom are internally displaced people. The number of beneficiaries is increasing every day, as new residents of the community and guests who play basketball and streetball, do gymnastics visit the playground. With the beginning of the academic year, schoolchildren also began to practice on this field in physical education lessons.
Playing sports is a great way to adapt and build friendships between local residents and IDPs. This was especially observed at the stage of the beginning of setting up the site, when both locals and visitors helped to implement the idea step by step, consulted, suggested, planned. It is joint work that brings IDPs a sense of necessity in a new community, enables them to integrate into everyday life, establish friendly relations, and also gain psychological relief.
After the official opening of the site, streetball competitions were held, in which 16 teams from the Chernivtsi region took part. This became an important event in the life of both the community and the residents of neighboring communities, and especially the sports children.
